General Conduct

• Guests are encouraged to stay on the marked trails and are not permitted to clear new trails. All issues with the trails (fallen trees, flooding, etc.) should be reported to staff so they can be resolved.
• Disrespectful, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate behaviour towards staff or other guests will not be tolerated.
• In accordance with Land’escapes’ conservation principles, guests should be always respectful to the environment and mindful of their impact on the land. 
• All guests must sign a liability waiver prior to camping on or traversing the property.

Noise

• The use of audio devices (speakers, radios, etc.) is not permitted within The Park to avoid the disturbance of wildlife and any other guests. 
• Guests are asked to avoid excessive rowdiness in an effort to limit disturbance and maintain a peaceful environment.

Pets

• Pets are allowed at Land’escapes, but it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure they do not damage, interfere with, or disturb vegetation, wildlife, or other guests. 
• Dogs must be kept on a leash when in the presence of staff or other visitors, or in areas where signage has been posted to indicate active trapping is underway. 

Fire

• Fireworks are strictly prohibited.
• Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban in place. Guests can check in with park staff or access local resources to find out whether there is currently a fire ban in place. 
• For firewood, guests may use fallen dead wood surrounding their campsite. Cutting down live trees or shrubs for firewood is not permitted. Do not bring firewood in from external sources in order to reduce the spread of disease and invasive species.

Vehicles

• Parking must be within designated parking areas. 
• Motor vehicles may only be used only on designated roads, and must respect any speed limits in place. Designated roads include:
  • Mackenzie Lane up to Blue Seas Lot
  • Egan Creek Lane up to Egan Creek Lot
  • Stangl Lane up to McFee Lot
• All vehicle license plates must be registered with staff prior to entering the property.

Food Storage & Safety

• All food, food equipment, cooking devices, garbage, scented products or anything that is likely to attract wildlife must be avoided or properly stored. Options for safe food storage include bringing a storage container that minimizes scents, such as a food barrel, metal canister, or bear bag, and hanging it in a tree beyond the reach of scavenging animals..
• During the night, or when taking excursions away from your campsite, it is recommended to hang it between two trees, over 4.5m (15ft) above the ground and 1.5m (5ft) from any tree trunks. A pre-hung bear-hang is located at every campsite for this purpose. 
• Campers should avoid keeping anything with a strong scent inside their tent.

Waste

• Land’escapes follows strict ‘no trace camping‘ guidelines. Guests must pack out or burn whatever waste they generate during their stay. Garbage and recycling receptacles are located at the gatehouse parking lot. 
• Trails to the thunderboxes are marked with blue signs. Put only human waste and toilet paper in thunderboxes. No diapers, wipes, food containers, condoms, feminine hygiene products, etc. – these can be burned in the fire or packed out with any other garbage.

Wildlife

• Do not feed, harass, or otherwise disturb the wildlife. 
• Know and follow safety guidelines and best practices for encounters with wildlife.

Fishing

• No live baits or soft plastics
• Single, barbless hooks only. 
• Catch & release all species except Bass (Largemouth and Smallmouth). 
• Release all Bass measuring 16″ or longer. Anything under 16″ can be kept and consumed.

Hunting Season

• During the deer hunting season, which generally runs from the beginning of October to mid-December, Land’escapes licenses out parcels of land to hunters as part of our Big Woods Hunting program. These licensed areas are off-limits to guests for the duration of the hunting season, with some flexibility in early-October, prior to Thanksgiving.

Failure to comply with these rules will result in being asked to leave and/or not invited back. Land’escapes is yours to enjoy and have a good time, but we expect all guests to be respectful and mindful of their impact on the land, other visitors, and wildlife.
